All set for 2nd edition of Innovation Week

dubai — The UAE’s second annual Innovation Week is all set to begin on Sunday. On Wednesday, the general secretaria­t of The Executive Council reviewed activities to be carried out in celebratio­n of UAE Innovation Week in coordinati­on with the government and private sectors.

“Innovation Week reaffirms the ongoing guidance of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the importance of strengthen­ing the concept of innovation among all segments of society,” said Abdulla Al Shaibani, secretary-general of the Executive Council of Dubai and member of the higher committee for UAE.

“Innovation Week, as it symbolises, is one of the largest innovation initiative­s in the world.

“This nationwide celebratio­n is a united effort by the government, private sector, educationa­l institutio­ns and it is a step forward in creating a widespread culture of advancemen­t in the UAE and strengthen the aspiration of the youth.”

“...We must encourage and inspire the nation’s youth to fall in line with UAE’s efforts to create a conducive environmen­t that stimulates developmen­t,” Al Shaibani added.

Hamdah bin Kalban, the Dubai Committee Coordinato­r for Innovation week, noted that the successful participat­ion of various sectors in the event last year was a proof that “showed the enthusiasm of everyone involved in adopting a work approach that provides several opportunit­ies and ways to adopt innovative ideas.”

creative and interactiv­e projects and activities to deliver the ultimate objective of spreading the innovation mind-set nationwide,” he added.

In Dubai, Innovation Week will include a three-day, familyorie­nted “Dubai Innovation Park”, which will take place in Burj Park between November 23 and 26.

Other events planned in “innovation hubs” across the seven emirates include providing community members with diverse opportunit­ies to participat­e in a wide variety activities that highlight innovative products and services, new government initiative­s, interactiv­e programs, competitio­ns, and talks.

The week-long Innovation Week programmes will end on November 26.
