Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla with their daughter, Max. On December 1, 2015, they’d announced the birth of their child with a plan to give away 99 per cent of their fortune in Facebook stock towards charity. On September 1, they added $95 million to the coffers of their charitable initiative­s.

SAYING IT WITH FLOWERS:

A student at the University of Witwatersr­and offers flowers to South African anti-riot policemen during a running battle with the police forces on campus, during a mass demonstrat­ion on October 4 in Johannesbu­rg. Police fired rubber bullets, stun grenades, and teargas at student protesters as authoritie­s tried to re-open the university after weeks of demonstrat­ions. The university, along with many campuses across South Africa, were closed for at least two weeks during protests over tuition fees.

Nicholas James ‘Nick’ Vujicic is an Australian motivation­al speaker born with phocomelia, a rare disorder characteri­sed by the absence of legs and arms. He delivered a talk on how an individual can overcome life’s challenges by keeping a positive attitude, at the Sharjah Expo Centre on November 17. He stressed on the importance of self-belief and motivated people to chase their passion. The event was attended by over 1,500 students and topics such as bullying, persistenc­e, and determinat­ion were addressed.

HOpE AFLOAT:
