Ancient grains was the hottest nutrition trend of 2016. Consumption of these grains represent a return to a simple, wholesome way of eating. Quinoa, millet, sorghum, amaranth, teff, freekeh, chia seeds, farro, and spelt qualify as ancient grains. They are poised for a big year ahead too, because of their high plant-based protein content. Quinoa was the most popular grain of the year.
