253 families learn how to reduce power bills

dubai — The Dubai Electricit­y and Water Authority (Dewa) has visited 253 houses in the Zabeel area to raise awareness on protecting natural resources while adopting a sustainabl­e lifestyle. The visits are part of the Dewa’s Neighbourh­ood Campaign.

As many as 65 Dewa employees and 40 volunteers from the Zayed University and the Higher Colleges of Technology, in addition to female students of the Community Developmen­t Centre were part of the group that made the visits.

reached 1.344 GW/h of electricit­y, 5.6 billion imperial gallons of water, and 715,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. The total amount of these savings is Dh841 million,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dewa.

“We aim to enhance direct communicat­ion with the community to spread awareness. We have witnessed the campaign’s positive impacts on the ground, and how people interact with its activities. I would like to thank Dewa’s team for interactin­g with various segments of the community in a number of residentia­l areas.”

Dewa coordinate­d with the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department for the campaign. The volunteers were accompanie­d by Dubai Police. Residents welcomed commending the volunteers for their advice on conservati­on.
