Jewellery sales exceed Dh1.4b during DSF 2017

dubai — In the recently concluded Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group’s (DGJG) mega promotion as part of the 22nd edition of Dubai Shopping Festival, the overall jewellery sales is estimated to be around Dh1.4 billion across the participat­ing jewellery outlets in Dubai. The promotion which ran from December 26 to January 28 was a major attraction among tourists and residents alike

“DSF 2017 has been an impressive sale season for our participat­ing jewellery retailers; higher footfall definitely translated into higher sales volume during the festival. Many of our participat­ing retailers witnessed an average of 20-25 per cent sales growth as compared to the previous year and the overall jewellery sales is estimated to be approximat­ely Dh1.4 billion across the jewellery stores in Dubai,” said Tawhid Abdullah, chairman of DGJG.

“We are happy to note that we have been instrument­al in changing many lives through our raffle promotions,” added Tawhid. Altogether there were 100 lucky winners over the 34 days of DSF celebratio­ns who received gold prizes worth around Dh5.4 million.

Saeed Mohammad Measam Al Falasi, executive director, Retail and Strategic Alliances, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishm­ent (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism), and organisers of DSF, said: “The gold and jewellery trade has been a cornerston­e of Dubai’s retail sector and we appreciate the major role played by Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group in ensuring the success of yet another edition of DSF, the most famous retail season in the region.”

Tomy Joseph, general manager of DGJG stated that the success of this year’s DSF campaign once again reiterates the commitment of the Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group to the DSF promotion campaigns.
