to a party at a villa in Bur Dubai.

The records show the defendant was provoked when he overheard the victim, a 29-year-old security guard, telling his mother on the phone that he could not transfer her any money because he (the accused) did not pay him back the money he owed him.

Out of fury, he took out a knife and attacked him. He aimed first for his throat but then stabbed him in the waist.

The victim, who then tried to run away from the other man, collapsed while the latter kept stabbing him.

A witness, who saw the defendant chasing the injured man in the villa during the party and trying to stab him again, told the prosecutor : “I saw him on top of the other man trying to further stab him. I managed to take him away.”

The victim was seriously injured and was bleeding profusely when he was rushed to hospital.

According to the forensic report, the injuries the victim received were very serious and could have been fatal.

The ruling remains subject to appeal.
