‘Bad company’ leads 2 women to drug use

dubai — The Dubai Police Anti– Narcotic Department has arrested two women, including a university student, who started abusing drugs after falling into the company of two male drug addicts.

Amel Abdul Qadir Al Fughai, a social worker with the Social Communication Unit of the Dubai Police, revealed the story of these two women as part of spreading awareness among families on the need to monitor children so that they will not fell into the trap of bad friends.

Amel Al Fughai explained that the parents of the first girl are divorced. She joined a university after successfully completing her school studies with good results.

However, at the university, she fell into the company of some girls, who introduced her to male friends outside the college. The girl loved the free life and started to go out with those friends, especially with one of the men, M.A. He became her best friend and their relation grew deeper. The student started staying out till late night as there was no one to monitor her at home.

trusted the girl very much and never imagined that she would fall into bad company,” said Amel Al Fughai.

The 21-year-old second suspect also started using drugs with her friends. She was arrested when the police raided her friend’s place after receiving information that he was using drugs, Amel Al Fughai said. Laboratory tests showed that both of them were consuming drugs.

The social worker said the follow-up section of the Dubai Police had provided support to the families of the two women to help the victims to stop drug use. The Anti- Narcotic Department continuously contact families of drug users and conduct visits to ensure that they do not return to drugs. Social workers give instructions and guides to help victims and families overcome the crisis, said Amel Al Fughai.
