abu dhabi — Thanks to a smartmove, Al Wahda Mall in Abu Dhabi has become the first mall in the capital to allocate parking spaces exclusively for women.

The aim of the Ladies Parking area is to eliminate the hassle of searching for parking spaces by its female shoppers, giving them a “feeling of oneness” with the mall.

Eighty pink parking bays now adorn the ground floor of the mall, making it the first mall in Abu Dhabi to lead the way as per the Abu Dhabi government’s initiative. “Reserved parking spaces for women shoppers encourage them to visit the mall more often and ease their woes to look for parking,” Mohammed Nauman Thakur, general manager, Al Wahda Mall, said.

The move has been openly welcomed by residents who frequent the mall.

“This is really a brilliant initiative and will ease shopping for us,” an Emirati mother, Aisha Mohammed, said.

Vivian A, a Filipina expatriate, said it will surely eliminate the headache of looking for parking space.

“I hate driving through all the parking floors looking for a free space to park my car,” she said.
