He added: “This project is in line with the Food Bank initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and it will enable us to reach out to the maximum number of people in need. This is the first of many such programmes that will be witnessed through 2017, in accordance with the Year of Giving initiative announced by Sheikh Khalifa. Food distribution for the needy has been one of the key projects at Beit Al Khair, and we have spent about Dh77million on this project over the last four years.”

The food distribution by Emirates Islamic continues its partnership with Beit Al Kheir, the Dubaibased charity. Last year, the bank donated Dh1 million to Beit Al Khair Society as part of Emirates Islamic Charity Fund’s annual Ramadan campaign.

The fund provides financial aid under several main areas, including food, shelter, health, education and social welfare.
