dubai — Losing precious data from phones can be traumatic and it is estimated that a small minority of smartphone users have backups — and just eight per cent backup their phones regularly.

Toshiba Gulf has come up with its latest innovations in storage solutions to ensure peace of mind against data loss.

Santosh Varghese, general manager for the Middle East and Africa of digital products and services at Toshiba Gulf, said the brand’s Canvio for Smartphone backs up and charges a connected phone in one single user operation.

“In other words, users will be able to feel peace of mind about saving important personal data such as photos, videos, music, documents, and contacts. Backups are automatically created each time the smartphone connects without the need for user intervention and after activating this function in the intuitive Android app,” he said at the “Toshiba Art of Memory Event”.

Varghese said user data on the smartphones are prone to data loss due to theft, water damage drop and broken devices, yet most users lack interest to back up their data on their smartphones regularly.

“By providing charging and storage together, the Canvio for Smartphone gives users a perfect solution to back up their precious data every time the phone is charged,” Varghese said

He said storage solutions from Toshiba vary to suit your specific data storage requirements with smart and easy backup solutions. “For instance, Toshiba’s new generation FlashAir SD Card wirelessly transfers photos and videos from the camera straight to any mobile device. The device not only stores data but it makes sharing memory easy with its embedded LAN capability. Now, the new and improved fourth-generation of this wireless SD Card is compatible to the latest cameras that are eye-fi ready,” Varghese said.

Toshiba is targeting the launch of FlashAir with Eyefi Connected features in April. Eyefi-Connected cameras offer a range of advanced features, including the ability to toggle FlashAir radio connectivity on and off and features that prevent camera shut down during data transfers. Eyefi-Connected features are available on over 300 camera models from more than 10 leading camera manufactures, including Canon, Nikon and Sony.

The third Toshiba product that will make the tech fans even more excited is the TransferJet, the latest in wireless transfer, better than Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

“It’s fast and reliable in transferring large files even in crowded areas. Just plug the TransferJet device to your mobile or PC, and bring the devices together and send data at 375mbps,” he said.

All three devices are new to the region and the official launch was held recently with special guest speaker David Thomas, the worldrenowned memory master.
