- Ahmed Shaaban

dubai — Hundreds of people flocked to Al Khulafaa Al Rashedeen Mosque in Al Warqaa area and then to Al Qusais Cemetery on Saturday to bid farewell to the UAE serviceman Khalid Ali Gharib Al Beloushi, who was martyred in Yemen on Friday.

The 36-year-old Sergeant was killed while on duty with the Saudiled Arab Coalition’s Operation Restoring Hope in Yemen.

The General Command of the UAE Armed Forces, in an official statement on Friday, announced the martyrdom of Al Beloushi.

Ahmed Ali, brother of the martyr, said he was proud that his brother ended his life while serving his country. “We are all ready to sacrifice our soul and blood for our nation, and the martyrdom of Khalid is a honour to us all.”

Pledging to follow the same track, Ahmed said all the martyr’s brothers and children are more than ready to follow the directives of the UAE’s prudent leadership to protect the country’s achievements.

“Khalid has five children, including four sons — Mansour, Tariq, Jassim and Nasser — and one daughter, Muza. He is of a family of 11 brothers and seven sisters, and they are all dedicated to defend our beloved country.”

Khalid’s parents are so proud of the martyrdom of their son. “Definitely, his death has sent waves of shock and grief to the entire family, but we are patient and proudly accepted this dignified end of his life story.”

Ahmed said his brother was a basketball player with the Al Shaab Sports Club before joining the UAE Armed Forces. “He was known for his good manners and readiness to assist anyone,” he added. ahmedshaaban@khaleejtimes.com
