-

dubai — Keita Catering has opened its flagship state-of-theart kitchen spanning over 24,000 square feet in Dubai and with a capacity to cater to over 35,000 people. The new facility, located in Dubai Investment Park 2, is one of the largest kitchens in the UAE. It currently provides nearly 30,000 meals to schools, hospitals, corporate clients and community programmes.

With a robust reputation in the UAE’s food service management sector, Keita offers a dynamic range of catering options from small-scale private catering to five-star dining for glittering events.

The new facility was inaugurated recently by Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, founder and managing director of VPS Healthcare.

Commenting on the opening of the facility, Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, said: “I believe Keita can contribute towards a healthier lifestyle for the community in the UAE, especially for kids. Childhood obesity has been a growing problem in the UAE. The high prevalence of obesity in school children necessitates regular screening and monitoring for hypertension, dyslipidemia and diabetes, especially since these disorders are exceptionally common. Recent research has revealed that early intervention can produce measurable health benefits. It is vital for our kids to eat healthy to stay healthy. Keita’s exceptional food quality should greatly help improve the health of its consumers.”

Almost 33 per cent of UAE children in the age group of five to 17 are overweight and obese. The UAE National Agenda leading to the Vision 2021 has outlined the importance of prevention and seeks to reduce lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases to ensure a longer, healthy life for citizens and residents.

Renhil Krishnan, director of Operations, said: “We are proud to open Keita’s first food service management facility in Dubai. We are driven by the philosophy of providing healthy meals to all of our customers, especially kids. We have an in-house dietician, which continuously monitors the quality of food and ensures that the meals produced are healthy.”

The Dubai facility, set up at an investment of around Dh15 million, is enabled with latest equipment including technology that allow chefs to control the temperature inside the kitchen to create the most hygienic condition.
