Abaya-clad man arrested for bid to rob money exchange
sharjah — The Sharjah Police on Sunday arrested an Arab man who disguised as a woman to break into a money exchange and assault its employees in an attempt to robbery.
The police said that the attacker has been found to be former employee of the exchange house. He tried to carry out the robbery, posing as a woman wearing an abaya, but the employees at the exchange house managed to stop him. However, the suspect fled the scene without taking any money.

about the incident. The police managed to identify the suspect and arrested him.
During interrogation, he confessed to the crime, explaining that he bought an abaya and wore it, hoping that the staff would not be able to recognise him. He told the police that he decided to rob the money exchange to settle his debts after he got fired from his work recently.
He also told the police that he was accompanied by someone of the same nationality, who was arrested later.
However, the man told the police that he was in the company of the suspect, but he didn’t involve in the crime and didn’t have a clue about it.
The case has been referred to public prosecution based on their confession.
Col. Al Ajill said that the suspect got fired from the same exchange house a few months ago and knew the location of the safes and other details about the office. After he lost his job, he stayed with his friend who dropped him at the crime site.
