Happy workers make companies successful
dubai — It is the little things that go a long way in making employees feel happy in an organisation, noted Hessa Al Ghurair, chief human resources officer at Commercial Bank International.
Giving employees the confidence to voice their opinion, celebrating their achievements and personal joys, are some of the ways through which companies can create ‘happy organisations’. This is in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the UAE leaders to make the UAE the happiest country in the world, through the National Program for Happiness and Positivity.
Al Ghurair was speaking at the ‘Journey to 2020 by Inspirational Women Leaders’ event, organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) Dubai Chapter, in celebration of International Women’s Day.
“Ethical managers make their own decisions. If you operate with the right ethics, making any decision is easy. It is not about post rationalising, but about doing what is right,” noted Vinita Bali, chairperson of Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition and former managing director of Britannia Industries Limited – India.
Other women speakers at the event were Vandana Gandhi, CEO and founder of British Orchard Nurseries, UAE; Anuradha Challu, VP-HR – PepsiCo Asia, Middle East and Africa; Daksha Baxi, executive director – Khaitan & Co, India; and Varsha Shah, Happiness Coach, The Happiness Framework Inc, India.
“Over the decades, the objective of Women’s Day celebrations has evolved and embraced culture and ethnicity to emerge as a celebration of appreciation, respect and love towards women. We are proud to see this event being presented by the women members of ICAI Dubai, and encourage their increased participation in the chapter activities,” said CA Pankaj Mundra, chairman, ICAI Dubai.
