Man jailed for 10 years for joining terror group

— An Emirati man has been found guilty of joining the Daesh group in Yemen and jailed for 10 years by the Abu Dhabi federal court of appeal. The court ordered the seizure of all devices recovered from the convict, M.S.A.N. It also ordered that the informatio­n found in the defendant’s electronic devices be removed.

M.S.A.N was ordered to pay the court charges and attorney fees.

In another case, a Jordanian, T.H.N, was jailed for three years and fined Dh500,000 for insulting the country, its symbols, police force and top officials on a social media account he created specifical­ly for this.

The court also ordered the confiscati­on of the electronic devices belonging to the convict and the closure of his social media accounts. It also ordered that the offensive informatio­n be removed.

In the third case, S.A.A.Sh, an Emirati, was found guilty of joining Ahrar Al Sham terror group in Syria and undergoing training at a camp there. He was sentenced to three years in jail.

In the fourth case, a Sudanese, A.A.A.A, was jailed for two years after he was convicted of insulting the UAE and its foreign policy, and offending its leaders through accounts he created on Facebook and Twitter. The court ordered the deportatio­n of the convict after his release from jail. He also was told to pay the court charges and attorney fees.
