Customs World signs deal with Dominican Republic
dubai — Customs World, a subsidiary of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation in Dubai, will provide technical assistance and expert advice to the General Directorate of Customs of the Dominican Republic to aid it in its reform and modernisation process.
Both parties have signed a cooperation agreement, to prepare a blueprint to build the capacity of Dominican Customs through enhanced customs procedures and clearance systems.
The agreement was signed in Santo Domingo by Faisal Eissa Lutfi, CEO of Customs World, and Enrique Ramirez Paniagua, director-general of the Dominican Republic’s General Directorate of Customs.

Following the agreement, a team of four experts from Dubai Customs will stay there on a onemonth mission to conduct a gap analysis and needs assessment on the Dominican Customs’ existing systems and procedures.
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, DP World group chairman and chief executive officer and chairman of PCFC, said: “This cooperation agreement, as well as the integrated development projects already being implemented by PCFC, will bolster the Dominican Republic’s capacities and enhance its role as a regional trading and business hub in the Caribbean and the Americas.” — Wam
