She started to scream and told me she would get me fired. She also threatened she would get me deported.” The policeman

“Around 8.30pm, we were informed about a problem at a café in Freej Al Murar. A man, who was waiting for us near the café, told us an Ethiopian woman took his wallet and mobile phone. We went with him to the café and as we entered he pointed at a woman, saying she was the one who took his mobile phone.

“The defendant stepped in as I asked for that woman’s ID. The Ethiopian defendant stopped her from showing the ID and said she was the owner of the place. She would not show her own ID either. She told the others not to show theirs,” the 62-year-old Yemeni corporal said.

The corporal added: “She started to scream and told me ‘I will get you fired. You will see how I will deport you. I have a lawyer’.”

He avoided the owner and her friend and walked to the patrol car because he did not want any confrontation with women. But they followed him.

The woman, who had taken the mobile phone, threw it on its owner. The latter had already got inside the police car and closed the door. The phone hit the closed car window and got damaged.

The women even tried to open the police car door. But the corporal’s colleague did not let them. mary@khaleejtimes.com
