UAE can lead us to a smarter world
sharjah — With the rapid development in infrastructure, the UAE is expected to take the lead in transformation from conventional energy to solar power, said former prime minister of Finland Alexander Stubb. In an exclusive interview with
Khaleej Times, Stubb said the nation could also take the lead in leading the world to smart technology, as the UAE Government and its people are keen to accept the changes.
“There are much similarities between the UAE and Finland in term of rapid development in infrastructure, and both the countries are examples of achieving great success in a short time.
“Finland went through many difficulties, such as hunger and a civil war between the Finnish Red Guards and the White Guards. However, after the internal affairs stabilised, the economy, which is mainly agrarian, grew relatively quickly,” said the former prime minister, who also held charge as finance minister of the nation.
“The UAE, with its transparency and smart technologies, has become part of the Fourth Revolution which will create great changes in lifestyle in the future. For example, by 2050 the university degree will be abolished and people will educate themselves using smart technology. The concept of work hours will change because technology that connects the employees with their work place to accomplish their work will be in their hand. Businessmen can run their business from anywhere around the world. However, the transition process towards a smart lifestyle will not be easy in the beginning,” he stated. Stubb also hailed the great bilateral relations between the UAE and Finland. “We are exchanging education experiences and we already have a Finnish school in Abu Dubai,” he added.
