sharjah — Three Emirati youths from the same family were killed in a horrific accident which occurred in Al Harai area of Khor Fakkan on Friday morning.

A top official with the Sharjah Police told Khaleej Times that the speeding car that the two brothers and cousin were travelling in crashed into a lamppost, causing the immediate death of all three.

According to the official, the driver of the car was not attentive on the road, which was slippery due to the rains that lashed the country on Friday. He lost control of the vehicle because of speeding and the car crashed into a lamppost, he said.

The police received a call at the operations room in Khor Fakkan at 10.30am about the accident. A team of traffic experts, patrols, ambulance and rescue unit of the civil defence reached the site immediately, but found the men, identified as Soud Al Naqbi and Khalifah Al Naqbi — who are brothers — and Abdul Aziz Rashid Al Naqbi, their cousin, all aged between 15 and 20 years, already dead. The police shifted the bodies to the morgue in Khor Fakkan Hospital.

The Sharjah Police urged motorists to drive cautiously during rainy and windy weather, to avoid these kind of accidents. Speeding is very dangerous during rains as the roads are slippery and drivers could easily lose control over the wheel, warned the official.
