sharjah — A father seeks damages for psychological and emotional abuses by his son-in-law, whose actions put the former in jail over dud cheque cases worth millions.

The Arab national A.A.B. never thought marrying his daughter to ‘S.F.A’ a compatriot, would take him to jail over 9 dud cheque cases worth more than Dh5 million.

The accused came to the country in May 2016 and accepted his son-in-law’s sponsorship to start a business of his own.

After months, he discovered that son-in-law had lied to him and he was married more than once and had 4 children. The problems started when the daughter confronted him and sought divorce over his ill-treatment.

According to the woman, when her father arrived at the port of Ghweifat on January 9 this year, he found that his residence visa was cancelled. Then he came to know that another person had forged his signature and cancelled his residence visa while he was outside the UAE. That was the first forgery done by his son-in-law who also seized his passport, according to the daughter of the accused.

She said, another shock was waiting for her father on Jan. 19. He was accused of issuing dud cheques and was brought before an Ajman court for issuing dud cheques worth Dh50,000 and Dh55.000. He was also brought before a Sharjah court over a dud cheque worth Dh155,000. Later he was referred to Dubai Court for a cheque of Dh2.5 million while two dud cheque cases Dh1million each were charged against him in Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah respectively. And in Ras Al Khaimah, he was accused of issuing dud check of Dh55,000 and Dh1m in Fujairah.

The woman told that her husband had stolen the cheques and forged his father’s signature to seek revenge in her.

He also complained against his mother-in-law and accused her of abusing him and taking Dh30,000. The man had also lodged a complaint against his wife alleging that she assaulted a man who worked for his company. Besides, he spread all sorts of false news and defamed the family on social media.

The woman said that the Dubai, Ajman and Sharjah courts have acquitted her father after they found the signature in the cheques were not matching with her father’s and that they were forged. She hopes that the Umm Al Quwain court will prove his father’s innocence and look forward to transferring him to another emirate as series of malicious allegations are continued against his father.
