Gang involved in selling fake items across country held

sharjah — The Sharjah Police have arrested five Asian men on charges of involving in commercial fraud and promoting counterfei­t products.

Sharjah Police in coordinati­on with inspection team from the Sharjah Economic Developmen­t Department (SEDD) raided a farm in Al Dahid area where the suspects stored the faked products with a purpose to distribute them across the country with same price of the original products.

Department, said that the police seized large quantity of faked brand names of perfumes, smart phones batteries and accessorie­s, as well as health, food, cosmetic products which carry brand names. The police during the investigat­ion found out that the gang members glued stickers that carry brand names in the containers of the products worth millions of dirhams and have rented the farm from its owner, who was not aware of their illegal activities.

Major Abdullah Al Malaih, director of criminal investigat­ion department (CID) at the Central Region Police Department, said: “We coordinate­d with inspection section of SEDD, raided the location and seized all illegal goods which belonged to people based in the country.”
