Crash victims’ bodies to be repatriate­d

abu dhabi — The bodies of the four car crash victims, who died in Abu Dhabi on Good Friday, will be repatriate­d to Philippine­s this week, an embassy official has confirmed.

Four Filipinos – three men and a woman, died on the spot on Friday morning, when a car rammed into their four-wheel vehicle near Shahama. The deceased were identified by the Philippine­s embassy as Lord Christian Asuncion Elli, 29, an interior designer; Veronica Dulay, 39, a secretary; Daniel Paulo Paraiso, 30, storekeepe­r; and Marvin Mendoza, 27.

“All formalitie­s are over. We have already received the traffic accident report and a clearance certificat­e from the police. The employers of the victims were cooperatin­g with us in processing the paper work. We expect all four bodies to be sent back to their families by this week itself,” a senior diplomat at the Philippine­s embassy, told Khaleej Times.

currently under treatment at the Al Rahba Hospital.

“Mendoza has undergone a surgery on her legs. Her situation is stable and she was able to talk to us when the Philippine­s ambassador visited her in the hospital,” said the official. Paulino who has sustained head injuries is still in the ICU. “She is conscious and her condition is stabilisin­g.”

According to the embassy, the six Filipinos, all from Dubai, were driving to St. Joseph’s church.

“They were riding a Pajero and it stopped on the third lane of Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid road in Shahama, due to a technical problem. The four victims had got down from the car to check when a Nissan Patrol rammed into the car from behind,” said the official.

The Indian lady driver of the Nissan Patrol, is in police custody.
