5 stand on trial for stealing medicines from pharmacy
sharjah — The sharjah Criminal Court has charged five men including three brothers with stealing medicines from a pharmacy located at Sharjah Corniche.
The case dated back to February 9 when the accused went to the pharmacy and the first accused started dealing with pharmacist to distract him, while the others sneaked into the store and stole large quantities of controlled drugs.
After receiving the information from the pharmacy, the police set a trap and managed to arrest the suspects, who confessed to the crime during interrogation. They told the police and the public prosecution that they stole the drugs for personal use. However, during a court hearing on Wednesday presided by judge Hussain Al Ousofi, they pleaded not guilty and said that they have no clue about the incident.
The police investigation showed that the five suspects had criminal records in drug-related cases. The case has been adjourned.
In another case, an Asian was charged by the court for assaulting two brothers and robbing Dh2,600 from the wallet of one of them. He allegedly committed the robbery in accomplice with another accused while they were drunk.
An eyewitness told the court that he saw the suspect assaulting the victims and taking money from them by force. The accused confessed to consuming alcohol, but denied the assault and theft charges.
