Month-long initiative marks International Workers’ Day
abu dhabi — With an aim to protect the health of workers, a mobile clinic initiative has been launched by a private hospital in Abu Dhabi, on the occasion of the International Workers’ Day. More than 450,000 workers will benefit from the initiative named ‘Health and Happiness.’ The campaign was set rolling by VPS Healthcare chairman and managing director, Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, at Lifecare Hospital in Mussafah.
Vayalil said that the health care group is following the vision of the UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
“We have always been giving but when you see a whole country on a giving mode, especially the leadership, we get more inspired to do things. When we give, we have grown — this has been one of the fundamentals of the group since its inception,” Vayalil told Khaleej Times.
“We launched a month-long initiative so as to benefit over 450,000 workers, spread across the 28 worker residential cities of ZonesCorp.”
The mobile clinic will be visiting the worker facilities to provide health screening and promote awareness. The mobile clinics are equipped with X-ray machines, ultrasound, BMI machine and cholesterol metre among others.
