Dewa forum discusses role of youth
dubai — Carrying the theme ‘Youth 10X’, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) held a forum at the Etihad Museum on Tuesday.
The event, Youth Circle forum, was held to discuss the role of the youth in supporting Dewa’s vision and mission, the national youth agenda, and Dubai’s goal of becoming a city of the future.
Attended by Shamma bint Sohail Faris Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of State for Youth Affairs, the event witnessed exchange of collaborative ideas by the participants.
Al Mazrouei said: “All young people in the UAE are required to do their best and attain their potential for the sake of their country. This includes talents, skills, ideas or mechanisms. The UAE deserves our devotion. Whatever we do now will be for the benefit of our home country and future generations.”
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Dewa CEO and managing director, told Khaleej Times: “We’ve talked about the Dubai Initiative 10x and shared ideas how to contribute to the implementation of the vision of Dubai as a city of the future.
“At Dewa, we have taken many steps on how to go about being ahead of other cities such as forging partnerships, launching of acceleration projects, smart goods, and our ultimate goal is to become a digital utility.”
Emirati Rashed Al Falasi, 25, who works as mechanical engineer at Dewa, said activities such as Youth Circle are important. “Through this Youth Circle we are not only crowd-sourcing collaborative ideas, we also feel we are very close to the government.”
