‘I don’t understand the adjustment’

-

Ahmed Abdull Rahman, a resident of Sharjah, said that when he went to pay his utility bills he was asked to pay two bills. “I couldn’t understand the adjustment of the new bills. I pay my monthly bill on time. I paid the last bills on April 13 and yesterday I paid Dh1,890 for two bills on May 18, but couldn’t understand how the adjustment has been made.” Maryam Al Sir, another customer, said that she received the SMS reading, “Dear customer, this is to inform that current meter reading and bill generation system is going to be adjusted into 4 cycles” but didn’t understand anything until she received the bills with big amount. She said the employees couldn’t explain the changes and asked her to enquire at the Sewa main office. She said the payment machines are not functioning, as it allows only payment for one bill. Ahmed Abbas, another resident, said that he received the SMS about the adjustment, but he thought he would be able to understand at the time of the bill payment. He tried to pay through machines and online, but in vain. Trying to pay the bill at the Sewa office near Mega Mall, he was shocked to see the bill. “I don’t know how they adjusted it. I asked the employee when I will be receiving the next bills, she said on June 7. That means I’m paying extra. This big payment adds burden on me, especially during this period with approaching of Ramadan and vacation.” Another customer said he received the SMS but still don’t understand anything about the bill. She paid two bills amounting to Dh1,200 and Dh860. afkarali@khaleejtimes.com
