For Samsung, TV tech need not be hard to view
dubai — Samsung Gulf Electronics on Tuesday launched its new range of QLED televisions in the UAE, promising the best picture quality ever in the South Korean giant’s TV offerings — and a complete understanding of the tech behind it.
The new TVs, powered by QLED — quantum dot light emitting diodes and first unveiled by Samsung in January’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas — is a variation of the company’s quantum-dot TV technology that headlined its Super UHD line-up in 2016. Quantum dots are tiny particles — between two to 10 nanometres in diametre — and are capable of emitting more vibrant, diverse and brighter colours.
The launch in Dubai sought to not just let users see the difference between picture qualities, but also understand the technologies behind it.
Our goal is to educate our consumers on the display technologies available on the market and provide them with the transparency and clear product information Haris Munif, head of product marketing at Samsung Gulf Electronics
“More than just empowering consumers with an advanced TV experience, we wanted to ensure our customers understood the superior technological elements that QLED has to offer,” Haris Munif, head of product marketing at Samsung Gulf Electronics, said.
“Our goal is to educate our consumers on the display technologies available on the market and provide them with the transparency and clear product information they deserve when making a purchase decision.
The new TV — the Q8C — is what Samsung calls its smartest TV ever, with its Smart Hub interface extended to smartphones via the ramped-up Smart View app, which now provides a more comprehensive overview of all available content. Users can select content from their mobile device, as well as opt to receive alerts on specific programmes, complete with timings and availability.
Samsung also introduced its Invisible Connection cable, transparent wires that give a cleaner look and through which all peripherals can be gathered and connected to the TV. The company is also offering two new stands in addition to its ‘Nogap wall mount’.
The Q8C comes in two sizes: the 65-inch versions will sell for Dh16,999, while the 75-inch option will be priced at Dh34,999.
