Mothers-to-be happy at ‘Mamma Mia’
Having a baby can be one of the most exciting and challenging things in one’s life. Yet, being a firsttime-mum can be quite equally daunting. Keeping this in mind, Aster Hospital (Mankhool branch) organised an event, ‘Mamma Mia’, to celebrate the beautiful souls who used their power to give birth to another life.
The programme was organised by Aster Nurture, a programme run by Aster Hospital & Clinic, that aims at nurturing, caring and protecting the mother and the new born baby, from the time the she conceives till the child is five years old.
Apart from the informative sessions on various topics of baby care, Aster Nurture also organised pampering sessions for expecting moms that included a makeover with a professional makeup artist and a photoshoot.
Veena Ravindran, who is expecting her first child, told Khaleej
Times: “The staff not only gave us information about child safety but also practically showed us how to save your child’s life in case if any untoward incident happens such as burns or choking.
“I have also taken different sessions with Aster Nurture, such as yoga during pregnancy, how to handle things post-pregnancy, information about the labour and delivery process and it has really been very informative.”
The programme that was divided into two sessions was attended by 60 expectant mothers. The main aim of the programme was to equip first-time mothers with all the essential information about good parenting and child safety.
Mahak Bathla, Aster Nurture coordinator, told Khaleej Times: “Aster Nurture is a programme for mums-to-be. Since it was also the International Mother’s Day this month, we wanted to do something special for these women who are getting ready to take up a big responsibility. Mothers have a strong desire to do the best for their kids but many first timers lack information on how to do so. Our event included a session on good parenting to lead the way for firsttime mothers.”
“The whole idea was to pamper them and tell them so what if you have big bellies, you still look beautiful. This is why we organised photo shoots, makeup session and a raffle draw where we gave away a baby box containing 49 baby care essentials,” Mahak added.
Aster Nurture conducts various programmes to support parents like the pre-natal yoga sessions for expectant mothers and Parents Connect, a weekly session for parents-to-be that provides guidance on the importance of exercise, diet and baby care.
