dubai — Renowned Egyptian scholar Prof Dr Mabrouk Atia has delivered a lecture themed ‘value of existence in life’ as part of the fourth night of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA)’s 21st edition lecture programme.

People from different walks of life and nationalities attend the lectures being held at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry every night after the Taraweeh Prayers at 10.30pm.

Prof Atia, who is the dean of the Islamic Studies College, Al Azhar University, talked about the value of God’s existence as the topmost priority, and how we should be thankful for this ultimate gift day and night.

“God’s existence means that He is all knowing of the past, present and future of everybody, but His victory, full support, and blessing are only to true and sincere believers.”

true mercy to all creatures, not only mankind. “Scholars follow the same track of prophets who left science and knowledge behind rather than wealth.”

The lecturer then highlighted marital harmony as a reason for society’s stability, he said. “Many houses are full of sadness because people turned deaf ears to the teachings of Islam.”

A man cannot live without a wife, and vice versa, he said. “They both need, complete, integrate and perfect each other that their life shall remain unstable until they come together.” To have a father and a mother is a priceless gift and only orphans feel the deprivation from not having both parents.

The cultural programme, spanning lectures in Arabic, Malayalam, Bengali and Tamil, is part of the global award annually organised under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, VicePresident and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Renowned scholar Sheikh Saeed Al Kamali was to give a lecture on the ‘impact of words’ on Wednesday night while Prof. Mabrouk Atia was expected to refute some common misconceptions about the Quran at the Dubai Women’s Association.

Sheikh Sayyad Ibrahim Khalil will start the nine-day foreign community programme with a lecture in Malayalam on ‘Quranic version for the moderate society’. ahmedshaaban@khaleejtimes.com
