dubai — An undercover police operation has led to the arrest of a gang involved in issuing fake credit cards in Dubai.

The anti–economic crime department at the Dubai Police have arrested a number of suspects after receiving information about people offering credit cards at less prices.

Colonel Salah Bu Osaiba, director of the department of antieconomic crimes at the Dubai Police, said that four suspects were referred to the Dubai Public Prosecution for further investigation. He added that the suspects obtained the bank cards by submitting the forged documents of customers.

An undercover police officer approached the suspects to buy a card and caught the Asian suspects red-handed while they were receiving the money from him. The police investigation has found that the defendants cooperated with a bank employee, who verify the original documents of customers, to cheat the customers.

Accordingly, the bank issued the cards and had even opened accounts for some. The suspects also managed to arrange loans of varying amounts of money after submitting fake papers.

Colonel Bu Osaiba said that Dubai Police urged the public to be cautious when dealing with ‘rewarding’ offers or persons selling such cards, especially if they call them from their personal numbers — it could be from gangs involved in bank frauds.
