GCC and Turkey condemn attack

london — Arab Gulf countries and Turkey have condemned the terror attack in London.

The United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait issued separate statements condemning such attacks and expressing their support for the British government.

The Saudi Embassy in the UK called on their citizens in London to exercise caution in crowded areas and follow police instructio­ns.

In Turkey, the foreign ministry has expressed its “deep sadness”. The ministry says that as “Turkey and the Turkish people, who have been subjected to similar attacks many times, we understand and share the pain of the people of the United Kingdom.”

Al Azhar Al Sharif, the leading religious institutio­n in Cairo, Egypt, also strongly condemned the terrorist attacks.

In a statement, Al Azhar Al Sharif emphasised its firm stance that rejects all terrorist operations targeting innocent people across the globe.

The renowned Islamic institutio­n stressed that all human beings have the right to live in peace and security regardless of their religion, colour, ethnicity or language.

Al Azhar Al Sharif also reaffirmed the need for the concerted internatio­nal efforts to eradicate terrorism and its threat, which is threatenin­g internatio­nal peace and hitting various regions around the world.

It also expressed its sincere condolence­s to the British Government and people, wishing for a speedy recovery for those injured. —
