Surprising the media, director VA Shrikumar Menon, said that Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, who will portray the role of Bhima in the movie, will be asked to do what actor Prabhas had done for

Baahubali, i.e., committing years of career for a film.

Mohanlal will not be allowed to sign on or act for any other movie once Mahabharata goes on floor. The actor has committed 2-3 years for the character, the director said.

“He will be definitely going through the drill. And when he joins this project, he will not be working for any other film. It will be his exclusive time for us.”

At 57 years, this could be the biggest challenge Mohanlal will be taking in his career.

The filmmaker said the project was his ‘wild dream’ and he is super excited.

“I convinced MT Vasudevan Nair that I will do the film the way he has envisioned for a global film.”

Then started the hunt for a producer, who had faith in Shrikumar’s abilities and after a toil of two years, the search ended with BR Shetty.

“He asked for the book and in a week’s time asked when the shooting can start.”

“I understand the expectations. I am not scared but responsible. I have set aside my next few years for realisation of my dream.”

The movie will be six-hour long, which will have two parts. The second part will be released between 90 and 100 days after the first part’s screening.
