The questioning of the man suspected of murdering the 11-year-old child is complete and the technical reports are ready, said a prosecution statement.

On Tuesday, the Family and Child Public Prosecutors said they initiated an investigation into the murder and sexual assault of the child immediately after receiving the case from the police and have conducted a photographic examination of the crime scene.

The prosecutors explained that their investigation included examination of the accused and the forensic evidence report on the wounds found on the child’s body.

Officers have confirmed that the results of the investigations will be published as soon as they have completed their probe into the case, emphasising that they are keen on the principle of transparency.

The Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution has also launched an investigation into the shocking incident. The Abu Dhabi Police on Monday revealed that their initial investigations suggested that the boy was sexually abused and strangled to death.

The director-general of Abu Dhabi Police, Major-General Maktoum Al Sharifi, had confirmed earlier that the killer, a Pakistani national, was also arrested.

The victim, identified as Azan Majid, went missing on June 1, after he went to a nearby mosque to pray, according to his relatives. The next day, 11-yearold boy’s body was found on the rooftop of his building on the Muroor Road where he was staying with his father.
