Footage shows man luring boy to kill him

abu dhabi — The Abu Dhabi Police on Saturday released a video footage of the 11-year-old boy who was raped and murdered at the rooftop of a building in Abu Dhabi.

The footage, which was exclusivel­y released on Al Emarat channel’s current affairs show Oloum Al Dar, has been made available to the public on the Twitter account of the show.

The video footage showed the rope used by the Pakistani man to strangle the boy and how he walked with the child while disguised as a woman.

The short video showed a person dressed in abaya while carrying a bag and then entering into the building. In the footage, the man moves inside the building’s corridor while walking behind the boy

and entering with him in an elevator. The boy identified as Azan Majid went missing on June 1, after he went to a nearby mosque to pray, according to his relatives. His body was found the next day on the rooftop of the building on the Muroor Road where he was staying with his father.

The Abu Dhabi Police had earlier revealed that their initial investigat­ions suggested that the boy was sexually abused and strangled to death.

The police also said they arrested the 33-year-old Pakistani national suspected of carrying out the murder after raping the child.

The police also revealed that the man cross-dressed to carry out the attack on the boy. The suspect had lured the boy into going with him to the rooftop where he raped and strangled him to death using the rope, according to the police.

The police, in a statement released last Tuesday, said that the boy’s family knew the Pakistani suspect. Major General Maktoum Al Sharifi, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Police, said the Pakistani confessed to them that he disguised as a woman to lie to the boy because he knew his parents always told him not to go out with strangers.

The police said the suspect had planned to attack the boy. And after raping and murdering the boy, the man fled the scene. But the police force was able to identify him and had him arrested.

The case is now before the Abu Dhabi Public Prosecutio­n.
