dubai — The largest number of complaints received by the Dubai Municipality call centre this year on the toll-free number 800900 has been about bachelor accommodation in residential areas.

Ibrahim Al Dashti, head of the call centre, said that the number of reports received regarding housing of bachelors in residential areas this year was 769.

He said the call centre also received 162 complaints from residents saying that they are affected by pet animals being kept at their neighbours’ homes. There were also 20 complaints due to damage caused by planting Damas trees at neighbouring homes.

The municipality has started a new service called ‘Preview Report on Damas Tree Damages’. The service is for verifying the damage caused to the neighbours before taking necessary measures.

He said it’s been noticed recently that there has been an increase in reports and complaints received by the municipality from home owners bothered by their neighbours, with the majority of the reasons being bachelor accommodations, raising of animals at homes and Damas trees.

Dashti said the municipality also received reports on other issues that affect residents such as water seepage from the neighbour’s house due to car washing, and throwing agricultural/household waste next to the neighbour’s house.

Manal Obaid Yaarouf, head of the Customer Care Section, stressed on the importance of maintaining friendly relationships between neighbours.
