dubai — The Dubai Police managed to rescue an Asian woman in just two hours after she was kidnapped by two Asian men who asked for a ransom of Dh50,000.

Major-General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, assistant commander-in-chief of Criminal Investigation Affairs at the Dubai Police, said that the police managed to free the the woman in record time after receiving information of her kidnapping. The force moved quickly to save the woman’s life, despite the absence of clear leads in the case.

The police were informed about the incident by the victim’s friend, who received a call from the 42-year-old victim, who had been kidnapped and kept confined in an unknown spot by two men of an Asian nationality. The woman also informed her friend that the kidnappers had taken her phone and asked her to pay up Dh50,000 if she wanted to be freed. She then asked her friend to inform the police.

Lieutenant-Colonel Adil Al Joker, director of the Criminal Investigation Department of Dubai Police, said the department managed to trace the location of the victim, who had been kidnapped on her way to work. They forcibly took her to an apartment in a neighbouring emirate, which the police raided within two hours.

Lt-Col Al Joker said the perpetrators were surprised by the police, not having expected to be traced so quickly. The victim told the cops that she knew the kidnappers, who in turn told them that the woman owed them a debt of Dh3,000. When they tried to get their money back, she stopped taking their calls and changed her number, which is why they resorted to kidnapping her, according to the men.
