Dubai — Retailer Home Centre has launched a limited-edition Ramadan collection in collaboration with Mawaheb from Beautiful People, an art studio for people with special needs aged 16 years and above, located in Al Bastakiya area.

Wemmy De Maaker, managing director of Mawaheb from Beautiful People, said: “When we set up Mawaheb from Beautiful People, the objective was to provide young adults with special needs an avenue to showcase their talent and to integrate them into the society. With Home Centre, we started work in December 2016 by providing artwork for canvas bags. After the success of this project we started developing work for their Ramadan special edition collection. The lamps, wall art, cups, bowls, mugs and cushions that one can find at Home Centre stores and at the Mawaheb art studio, located in the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, look unique and colourful.

Home Centre recently invited our artists to an Iftar with their customers. We thought it was a great way to highlight the collection and create a platform for customers to meet our artists and have peek into their worlds.”

Reflecting the key message of the ‘Year of Giving’ in UAE, the launch of the collection is aligned with Home Centre’s aim to promote local talent and give them wider recognition for their extraordinary abilities.

Throughout the holy month, customers will be able to choose from a delightful range of home accessories – including cushions, coffee mugs and wall arts –designed by the gifted artists from Mawaheb.

The limited-edition collection will be available exclusively during the month of Ramadan at six Home Centre stores — Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Mirdif, Oasis Mall, Marina Mall, Dalma Mall and Al Qassimiya (Sharjah) in the UAE.

Médéric Payne, CEO of Home Centre, said: “Home Centre began its collaboration with Mawaheb from Beautiful People with the launch of eco-friendly jute bags, which have been in our stores since December 2016. The bags were well received and customers have been using them as handy shopping bags.

During Ramadan, we host a ‘Share a Table’ to encourage a cross section of communities to come together and this year we invited our customers and Mawaheb artists to share a meal during Iftar celebrations.

The artists from Mawaheb are hugely talented and through this association, we wanted to give them a wider platform to showcase their art and encourage them to continue doing what they are great at.”
