Al Taher claim Futsal crown at NAS Ramadan Sports

-

dubai — Deives Moraes scored four goals and top-scorer Fernando Nascimento Cosme added a hat trick as Al Taher swept past The Emperor 8-7 to win the Futsal competition at the 5th Nad Al Sheba (NAS) Ramadan Sports Tournament that concluded at the NAS Sports Complex on Friday.

Moraes scored one in the first half and added another three in the second period, while Cosme scored his first two goals and those of his team in the opening period and was on target a third time in the second.

But The Emperor did not give in easily as they battled with their backs against the wall while matching their better equipped opponents throughout the 40 minutes of regulation time. Every time Al Taher threatened to break away, The Emperor did just enough to stay within striking distance.

Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, Commander-In-Chief of Dubai Police and Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee gave away the trophies and medals along with Saeed Hareb, General Secretary of Dubai Sports Council (DSC), Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Saleh Ameen, Board of Directors at DSC and Tournament Director Hassan Al Mazroei after the final.

Though both teams looked evenly matched, at least on paper, it was Al Taher that always seemed to be holding the upper hand over their opponents in the final. The Emperor were off to a good start after Eder Fermino Lima scored off an Ivan Chishkala pass in the fifth minute. But Al Taher drew the score when Cosme converted in the next minute.

Cosme was on target a second time when he flicked in a pass from Ahmed Abdullah Mohammed Jashak in the eighth minute. Eder Fermino Lima scored his second with 4.22 minutes left only to see Al Taher take the lead again through quick goals from Moraes and Jashak. However, Leandro Henrique Cypriano managed to pull back a goal going into half-time.
