dubai — Emirati twins Mazna and Saif Al Badi were celebrating a special birthday. Not only was it their first ever, but the two bundles of joy were one of the UAE’s first babies born after people started celebrating Eid following the sighting of the moon on Sat- urday night.

“The birth of our twins by the time Eid was declared was a sur- prise for us, and now the memo- rable occasion is doubled for us,” proud father Humaid Saeed A Badi said.

Weighing just 2kg each, Mazna was the first to be born at about 7.40pm, with Saif making his appearance about a minute later.

Ironically, the twins were not actually due for another two weeks, but clearly they timed their arrival date perfectly with Eid.

dubai — Emirati twins Mazna and Saif Al Badi were celebrating an extra special birthday on Saturday. Not only was it their first ever, but the two bundles of joy were also noted as one of the UAE’s first babies of Eid, after being born just moments after Eid Al Fitr was announced.

“The birth of our twins by the time Eid was declared was a surprise for us, and now the memorable occasion is doubled for us,” proud father Humaid Saeed Al Badi said.

Weighing just 2kg each, Mazna was the first to be born at about 7.40pm, with Saif making his entrance into the world about one minute later.

The duo — born at the Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women and Children in Abu Dhabi — are the family’s firstborn.

And although the happy couple was showered in congratulations following the birth of their beautiful twins, Humaid said he also wanted to congratulate the UAE leaders, government and the people of UAE on this “very special day”.

Baby Mohammed Al Mansouri is the second child for the family and his father said they were “overjoyed”.

At Al Zahra Hospital in Dubai, the first Eid baby was welcomed into the world at 4.42am, weighing 3.58kg.

Staff at the hospital said parents of the baby girl named Claire were over the moon that their daughter’s birthday coincided with the Eid celebrations.

In Saudi German hospital, Syrian expatriates Firas and Raneem Malko welcomed their firstborn Andrew. Born at 4.30pm he was also the hospital’s first Eid baby.

“We were expecting the baby to arrive tomorrow, but Raneem went into labour at 12pm so we brought her to the hospital,” the baby’s uncle, Maron, told Khaleej Times.
