The Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) said the cars were caught during an inspection campaign conducted in cooperation with the Integrated Transport Centre (Mawaqif) and Al Sahraa For Transport, targeting abandoned vehicles in Abu Dhabi.

“Such a campaign, which covered Abu Dhabi Corniche and Hamdan Street, stems from the commitment of the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport of the municipality to protect the city landscape from all types of disfiguring elements, nurture a safe and healthy environment for all community members and ease traffic flow,” said a municipality statement.

During the campaign, the ADM and Mawaqif cautioned against leaving vehicles unattended for extended periods, which distorts the city’s outlook.

The campaign also resulted issuing of warnings to owners of abandoned vehicles.

The municipality said it is combating the phenomenon of leaving vehicles in parking spaces, public squares and public facilities under the law regarding maintaining the general appearance, health and public tranquillity in the emirate, and the executive regulation, which stipulates for slapping a fine of Dh3,000 against offenders.
