Lubna Al Qasimi heads International Institute for Tolerance’s first meeting
abu dhabi — Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of State for Tolerance and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the International Institute for Tolerance, stressed the pioneering role of the UAE and its wise leadership in promoting the values of tolerance and peace.
In her capacity as the Chairperson of the Institute’s Board of Trustees, Sheikha Lubna inaugurated the meeting held recently at the Union Museum in Dubai.
She praised His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the government and the people.

work. She also stressed the importance of converging and coordinating efforts with relevant authorities to endorse these values locally, regionally and globally.
The forum addressed the strategy adopted by the Institute and its ambitious vision to become an international house of expertise where policies are rationalised and values of tolerance and coexistence are consolidated. The participants discussed the overall picture of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Tolerance in terms of objectives, categories, target audience and procedures. They also deliberated the initiatives of the Institute to be carried out in the coming period. This includes organising an annual international conference in collaboration with the Secretariat of the United Nations, exemplifying the UAE’s model for tolerance at Expo 2020, and promoting the values of tolerance among young generations, mainly through modern communication and social networking platforms.
These efforts shall be put in place to rationalise the policies aimed at achieving co-existence, raising awareness on tolerance-related issues, and exploring the root causes of fanaticism and sectarianism, while developing appropriate solutions to address them.
