‘New identity and logo reflect new spirit’
Residents in the UAE Capital will soon see new police vehicles, uniforms and logos, as the Abu Dhabi Police launched a new logo on Monday, to coincide with their 60th anniversary of operations.
Major-General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Commander-in-Chief of the Abu Dhabi Police, told Khaleej
Times that it took approximately four months to design the logo, which consists of the golden falcon, golden dagger, white palm tree leaves, and a red frame, representing the police’s overall achievement and development since 1957. “The Abu Dhabi Police just completed its 60 years, and this is the first step in changing our identity, with the new logo.
“At the end of the day, this is a symbol, it’s an emblem — changing it doesn’t mean we will change our work. But we became a local agency and wanted to have our own identity and image,” added the police chief.
Major-General Al Rumaithi said there will be more celebrations in September and November, which will see changes in the police uniforms and vehicles. “The new identity and logo will positively reflect the new spirit of the police personnel, as well as the public.
“The Abu Dhabi Police now belongs to the government of Abu Dhabi, under the umbrella of the Ministry of Interior. We wanted to stand out as a police force with a new identity, which is our own,” he stressed. Also during the ceremony, new identification badges were handed to senior Abu Dhabi Police officials.
