Emirati initiative gets Dh11 million donation

abu dhabi — Dh11 million has been received in contributi­ons for Sandooq Al Watan, a national initiative launched by prominent Emirati businesspe­ople to support research projects for the post-oil era.

According to a press statement, a Dh10 million donation was made from a philanthro­pist businessma­n, and another Dh1 million from Ali Mohammed AlBlooshi, chairman of the Ghantoot Group.

The new donors’ names will be added to Sandooq Al Watan’s Prime Funders list, with the names of all contributo­rs until the end of the #Year of Giving 2017, in an effort to entice the broader business sector to come on board and help the fund achieve its goals stated in the Sandooq Al Watan 2020 strategy.

“Sandooq Al Watan offers a platform for businesspe­ople and all those looking to do some charity work, allowing them to put their money and effort into nation-wide developmen­t projects,” AlBlooshi said.

The Board of Directors at Sandooq Al Watan expressed its gratitude for the Emirati people’s generous contributi­ons, reflecting their commitment to uphold their national duty and abide by the vision of the country’s leadership.

Sandooq Al Watan’s agenda includes a number of ambitious initiative­s that heed the call prepare for the post-oil era and empower a generation of young innovators across various sectors and segments, to “cement the UAE’s position among the world’s 20 most innovative countries in the world”.
