abu dhabi — UAE nationals who want to become paramedics or pre-hospital care professionals can register for the free training until August 17.

The National Ambulance (NA), in coordination with the University of Sharjah (UoS) had in May launched the training programme dedicated to UAE nationals in the northern emirates. It is designed to equip young Emiratis with the knowledge and skills to save lives and treat people in emergency situations so they can qualify as emergency pre-hospital care professionals. The one-year emergency medical technician (EMT) training course that targets high school graduates is intended to educate Emiratis in important medical services and be part of the teams saving people’s lives.

The free training medical programme, which starts in September, will prepare them to work on the frontlines of medical emergency response with NA and guarantee employment opportunities for those who successfully complete the programme.

Registration was scheduled to stop this month, but the NA said it has decided to extend the registration deadline to give chance to other young people wishing to join the medical programme or those who might have been out the country for summer holiday to register for the training course.
