RAK opens shelter for trafficking victims
ras al khaimah — A new shelter for victims of human trafficking has opened in Ras Al Khaimah. The National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking has hailed the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, in combatting human trafficking with the opening of the shelter for women and children.
The shelter, called the Aman Centre for Women and Children, will provide rehabilitation and other services to victims of human trafficking in the emirate. The opening of the centre comes as part of the UAE’s agenda for addressing and promoting issues of human rights.
Delegates from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as representatives from the Ministry of Interior and human trafficking centres from around the country visited the shelter to discuss work mechanisms and ways to strengthen cooperation in the battle against the crime. —
