RAK opens shelter for traffickin­g victims

ras al khaimah — A new shelter for victims of human traffickin­g has opened in Ras Al Khaimah. The National Committee to Combat Human Traffickin­g has hailed the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, in combatting human traffickin­g with the opening of the shelter for women and children.

The shelter, called the Aman Centre for Women and Children, will provide rehabilita­tion and other services to victims of human traffickin­g in the emirate. The opening of the centre comes as part of the UAE’s agenda for addressing and promoting issues of human rights.

Delegates from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as representa­tives from the Ministry of Interior and human traffickin­g centres from around the country visited the shelter to discuss work mechanisms and ways to strengthen cooperatio­n in the battle against the crime. —
