Smart radars to catch violators

sharjah — The Sharjah Police on Tuesday announced the installati­on of ‘smart radars’ on various roads to ensure traffic safety in the emirate.

Major-General Mohammed Alai Al Naqbi, director of traffic and patrol department of the Sharjah Police, said: “The radar has smart features, with the ability to record live scenes and detect violations committed by drivers.”

He added that the Sharjah Police are working to enhance road safety and reduce the number of deaths, with the aim of upgrading the traffic system by introducin­g such smart radars.

Maj-Gen Al Naqbi said that smart radars monitor many violations being committed by motorists on the roads such as tailgating, heavy vehicles that do not follow lane discipline and driving on road shoulders.

seatbelts, using phones while driving and speeding. He urged the motorists to adhere to traffic rules and be careful while driving to protect themselves and others from accidents that result in injuries, loss of life and property.
