MNA Gulalai parts ways with PTI

-

islamabad — Member National Assembly Ayesha Gulalai announced on Tuesday that she was parting ways with the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).

The announcement came moments ahead of the prime ministerial election in the National Assembly.

Gulalai cited ill-treatment of women in the party as the reason for her decision. She said that she had conveyed her grievances to the party leadership but no action was taken, forcing her to take the decision.

Ayesha accused the party head Imran Khan of duplicity, immorality and ignoring rampant corruption in the PTI ranks especially on the part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak.

She also expressed her dejection over Imran’s attitude towards female party workers saying, “Women are not given due respect in the party. Their selfrespect is attacked by the party chairman.”

“We, the Pakhtuns, believe in respect for women. Self-respect and dignity are fundamental norms in Pakhtun culture and a fake Pakhtun cannot understand these norms. Many more party MNAs and activists are annoyed with the chairman due to his attitude,” she added.

Ayesha said she had been complaining to Imran about the corruption of Pervez Khattak and his ministers but could not get any response from him.

She said, “Khattak is involved in massive corruption. Even Mohammed Atif and Ali Amin Gandapur have been bringing this to Imran’s notice.” — APP
