Family stuck in desert rescued

dubai — The Air Wing of the Dubai Police has rescued a Saudi Arabian family, whose SUV got stuck in the desert on Wednesday evening while trying to enjoy watching a herd of gazelles.

The centre extended helping hand to the family in collaborat­ion with Dubai Corporatio­n for Ambulance Services (DCAS) and Al Barsha police station as well as the General Department for Transport and Rescue.

Accompanie­d by First-Sergeant Faiz Mosaad and a male nurse from DCAS, Lieutenant­Colonel (Pilot) Essam bin Hafiz and First-Lieutenant Abdullah Al Sha’air moved to the place.

After the search conducted by a helicopter, the family was found and necessary assistance was provided to them, until the arrival of the security patrol from Al Barsha Police station. A manned crane of the general department for transport and rescue pulled out the vehicle.

A member of the family said they spotted a herd of gazelles while travelling in the desert and drove closer to enjoy watching the animals. “But all of a sudden the vehicle got stuck in the soft sands.”
