Al Mansouri said that Dubai Police officials are still on-site and are keeping the tower secure, ensuring a steady and stable return for the tenants. A mobile police station is also located on-site, which is a bus equipped with all necessary services for residents to report and look for their lost and found items.

A Japanese resident, Mari Nakayama, was also relieved to move back home. “Finally I can go back to my room. The hotel is very nice and we are very grateful for that; but I think we were all missing our own beds,” Nakayama said.

Meanwhile, Egyptian expat Soraya Raafat was all smiles while bringing her luggage back into her flat. “A free hotel stay is great, but your own home has a certain comfort that cannot be replaced. I’m happy that we got to return in just a few days and not weeks. We can all get back to our usual routines now,” Rafaat said.

Kingfield said in the email to tenants that maintence would also be available for apartment doors that may have been damaged. “Where apartment doors have been damaged by the Dubai Civil Defence during their attendance to the fire incident, building carpenters and locksmiths are on hand to provide emergency repairs if required,” the email said.

The remaining tenants will be allowed to move back in once authorities finish their investigation.
