Radars, counting centres to track vehicles on roads
dubai — The Ministry of Infrastructure Development has installed 27 special radars and set up counting stations to monitor the number of light and heavy vehicles that run on federal roads across the country.
The move is aimed at identifying reasons behind traffic congestion, and finding suitable solutions, according to Hassan Al Mansuri, undersecretary of the ministry. “Based on the reports that will be collected from the electromagnetic waves, more specific plans will be launched to develop the federal roads and boost traffic flow on them.”
Maintenance plans will also be made based on these reports. “The counting stations will be linked to a mini operations room at the ministry’s headquarters.”
Special monitoring centres will later be established in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and traffic departments concerned all over the country, he said.
